Bhadrakali Cloth Store sells cloth by the metre in Miyapur. Not a chain, not a showroom, no branches. One shop on Sri Rangapuram Colony road, open from ten in the morning, with the stock stacked floor to ceiling because that is the only place left to put it.

What we do is unglamorous and takes practice. Someone comes in with a saree and needs a blouse piece that vanishes against it. Someone needs three and a quarter metres because their tailor said so. Someone is buying for a wedding in six weeks and wants to see everything in maroon before deciding. All of that happens across a counter, in daylight, with cloth unfolded — which is why this website will only ever get you halfway.

The site exists to save you a trip you did not need to make, or to make the trip you do make a shorter one. Look at what is in stock. Note the width and the price so you know what your tailor’s list will cost. Then tell us you are coming and we will have it out of the rack before you arrive.

What we do not do

We do not ship cloth. Colour on a screen is a guess, shrinkage is real, and we are not going to take your money for a maroon you have not seen. We do not stitch full garments — falls, picos and blouse measurements yes, a tailoring department no; there are people two doors down who do it better. And we do not sell anything as handloom that came off a power loom. If you ask which one it is, you will get a straight answer.

About the name

Bhadrakali is the goddess whose temple stands in Warangal, and hers is a name a great many shops across Telangana carry. It is the sort of name that goes above a shutter because somebody in the family meant it.
